St Andrews Scout Troop
Welcome to the St. Andrews Scouts where ‘Skills for Life’ are gained and the adventure begins………..
Our Meetings
• When: Thursday 7.30-9.30 (term times)
• Where: 55a Chelmsford Drive, Hornchurch, Essex, RM14 2PH
The Scout section is open to both boys and girls, usually aged between 10½ and 14 years and is the third and final Section within the Scout Group. Scouts is about developing new skills, making lifelong friends, and discovering the world around you. Whether it’s cooking on open fires, building shelters in the woods, or heading off on your first hike, every meeting brings something new and exciting.
What We Do
Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of our programme. “Participation” rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
As Scouts, it’s all about having fun and learning:
• Learn life skills like map reading, first aid, leadership, and teamwork
• Take part in adventurous activities such as watersports, hiking, climbing, and camping
• Work towards badges and awards, including the Chief Scout’s Gold Award
• Contribute to the community with local projects and fundraising
• Grow in confidence by stepping up and trying new challenges
Uniform & Badges
We are a uniformed organisation and every member is expected to wear the appropriate uniform, which can be purchased from the District Scout Shop, at the Group Headquarters in Chelmsford Drive, on Mondays 5pm – 8pm (term times only).
The uniform consists of: -
• A Scout Shirt
• Navy activity Scout trousers
• Scout Belt
• Scarf and woggle
• Black shoes
